I can't find an email addy or a phone number for Google. Does anyone know one?

Asked by Buttonstc (27605points) December 23rd, 2015 from iPhone

The info I provided wasn’t good enough for them so now I can’t even use the Google search bar.

This is getting more ridiculous by the minute. I seriously need to contact someone over there somehow.

Are you locked out of your Google account?

It sounds like you tried Google account recovery. already, yes?

Yes. They don’t recognize me from my new phone.

That’s where I just wasted about half an hour filling out all the minutiae they wanted and that wasn’t good enough apparently.

I can access everything fine on my old iPhone 3G but that’s not helping me as far as the new phone is concerned.

If I had an email address for them I could communicate with them that way and hopefullystraighten it out.

For several years now they’ve been constantly giving me nag screens wanting my phone number but I’ve steadfastly resisted that. They already have enough info on me and I see no reason why they need my phone as well. Enough is enough already.

I keep looking for an email or a phone number for them to no avail.

The only thing remotely resembling what I need is a “Google for Work” support services

But when you read further it requires you to have your PIN number so I’m assuming that’s for paid work accounts. A PIN number is quite different from a password.

Google doesn’t have support for things like this. You will never reach a real person. Unless you have a paid account you will only find a Python script.

I agree with @johnpowell you will never reach a real person. I have been in their endless loop only to find nothing. In my opinion Google is “intrusive” and tries to “control” your use of their applications with sign ins, logins, passwords.

Your email is one thing you want to be highly protected. If I were a criminal, and I had access to your email account here is what I would do.

1)
Go to citi.com and chase.com and usbank.com and bankofamerica.com and wellsfargo.com

2)
Click on “I forgot my user name, email me” and then “I forgot my password, email me”

3)
Steal your money.

That may not work for YOUR email address. But I guarantee that if I were a criminal breaking into thousands of accounts, it would be worthwhile.

@jaytkay

And that’s precisely why I don’t do online banking at all even tho each time I’m on the phone with my bank, they are constantly telling me how convenient it is.

But, I’m very old school that way. If I need to check my balances, I pick up the phone and call a real person at he bank. They’re available 24/7 so I really see no need to change to online banking.

There are just too many ways that hackers can access online info. But at least I know that if it’s the fault of my bank’s insufficient security procedures, they are legally required to reimburse me.

But this whole thing with Google is ridiculous. Just because I’m logging in from a different phone (with the proper name and password) is no reason for alarm.

Fortunately, I can still access my Gmail from my old iPhone (on wifi) or I’d really be in a state.

@johnpowell

Thanks for the info. At least I’m no longer wasting time hoping to reach a real person.

Do you have any suggestions for how I can get my new phone attached to my buttonstc accounts?

In order to be able to use some apps on my new phone, I created a totally new gmail account with a different SN.

But I don’t want it to stay that way since there are a few apps for which I paid so I definitely want to get this phone connected to my original gmail and playstore and YouTube accts. which are all with the buttonstc SN and gmail.

Any ideas from you or anyone else would be much appreciated.
