What's a connection between WI Senator Gaylord Nelson and actor Billy Garcia?

Asked by Brian1946 (27053points) April 22nd, 2017

There’s also a connection with congressdude Pete McCloskey.

I got the idea for this question from an email sent to me by our (CA) superfine Senator, Kamala Harris.

Otherwise, no details because I don’t want to give away the answer.

Wild guesses are also welcome.

Garcia might have been the Gaylord’s sex servant.

No fair, you peeked and saw Garcia’s tentacles!

However, that’s not the specific connection I’m thinking of.

Here’s the first part of the connection, according to an email I got from CA Senator Kamala Harris:

”...the idea behind Earth Day was started by a U.S. Senator and inspired by the state of California.

Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson traveled to California to see the devastating effects of the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill firsthand. Spurred to action by what he saw, Senator Nelson decided our country needed a national day of public consciousness about protecting our planet. So he joined forces with Pete McCloskey, a Republican congressman, to put forward a ‘national teach-in on the environment’.

Together, they formed Earth Day.”

The first Earth Day was April 22, 1970, which is Garcia’s birth date.
