You can be afraid but you have to do it anyway. I was a shy kid and one day just decided I was tired of being scared. My life changed 200%. Every once in awhile I still get scared and that increases my drive to succeed even more, and I push through it. I refuse to live my life in fear so I took control. Its pretty cool.

Look at what the worst that could happen might be. Embarrassment? Pain? Death? I’ve experienced each of those, except death and that will come eventually. So what is to fear?

Not being afraid of anything can be a huge setback. Some fears are there to ensure your survival or help you make the right choice. Would you like to jump down from a tall building? There’s no need to fear right?

The better question is “how to know what kind of fear is unnecessary”.

Almost everyone is afraid of something. The trick is to do it anyway. Pretend. Fake it until you make it.
A famous song from a musical from the early 1950’s: The King and I

Don’t whistle. People have not done that since the 1990s. Just look confident.

“Courage means doing something even though you’re afraid.” It’s from some kid’s book that featured the Wizard of Oz characters. The cowardly lion said it, I think.

“I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.”

Repeat as necessary.

Look at the consequences.
If the risk involves too much harm to oneself or others ( unless in life and death situations) then decide on the consequences of that action.
When ethical outweighs fear +risk consequences…then fear dissolves and action begins.
