Is Fluther more likely to delete or remove bizarre questions than other sites?

Asked by Yellowdog (12216points) June 18th, 2018

No complaints recently, but many months, maybe a couple of years ago, I had a question removed because it did not meet their quality standards.

I think the question was kind of a joke, but people were answering, some even having fun with it.

I recognize that too many joke, bizarre, or highly unusual questions are not good for Fluther—kinda like spam. But what are the standards, written or unwritten?

Uh. I guess I would say that Fluther does have pretty high standards. But that is part of the attraction, for me, to the pond.

It adds a sort of validity, to those who are capable of adhering to the standards. And it discourages the rampant “text” language from proliferating further.

Probably. According to the guidelines, jokes “may be removed”.

Unwritten rules include that April Fools’ Day has relaxed rules and that jokes have a higher chance of being sent back for editing when they’re duplicates of earlier versions.

Bizarre questions asked in a serious manner would normally stay up, I think. Do you have an example of that type?

It is easier for the mods to address a specific question privately about why a question was removed than to make blanket statements of policy. Humorous questions have certainly stayed up, i.e. my question about the world being run from a Hyderabad laundry.

I thought the mods would only delete SPAM or totally inappropriate posts; others would be sent to the editing spot for the OP to correct or let die.
