Nothing. There are billions of random tweets from the entire spectrum of lunatic to rational. Having a few Russian twitter bots trying to sow political discord is like farting in the wind.

I hope so. Though I think just a handful of users can really change a site.

I guess the follow-up question is, does social media affect your IRL views? Not just factual content. But how you may view opposing parties?

It isn’t going to stop. It’s like advertising, while it may be difficult to quantify the impact it would be foolish to presume it is zero. Advertisers don’t spend billions of dollars for no return and these large scale trolling efforts are no different. They are serious attempts to confuse and divide the public and to hinder government. They are not carried out by our friends and doing nothing is not an option.

They have found an inexpensive and effective way to divide the country. . And there is no reason for them to stop. I figure as we speak they are attacking every binary issue they can find.
Black/All lives matter
Anti-/Pro Vaccination
No/Pro Smoking
Liberal/Conservative
Pro/Against Immigration

The issue does not matter. All they need to do is stir up a small percentage of the population and those sheep keep the ball rolling. It weakens the country.

I can’t wait to see the Pro-Obesity tweets.

I think these bullshit wedge issues do make some difference. Getting people heated up over nothing is how I see it. It helps to divide the country. It means we are likely to get extreme candidates in office.

Vaccinations? That should not be a political issue. Ironically, there are extreme liberals and extreme conservatives both who are anti-vaccine. The thing to remember is over 90% of America still is getting vaccinated.

Global warming—why the he’ll is anyone in favor of polluting and raping the earth? They should stop using the global warming issue and stick to pollution and personal health. Do you want to die from autoimmune disease and cancer?

ID requirements to vote? Flipping, of course it’s reasonable to require ID! I’ve been registered in more than one state more than once in my life. It is not unusual. If require ID we just need to make ID accessible to everyone.

Immigration? Democrats historically have also agreed we need to control immigration and have vetting measures. There isn’t that much disagreement regarding immigration in reality. Trump has been extreme, but the majority of our leaders aren’t.

There are some issues that the parties are extremely different, but even those, no one listens to each other, they just listen to the BS.

Remember gay marriage? Sky hasn’t fallen now that it’s legal. Remember gays in the military? I haven’t heard a peep about it now that it’s legal.

@LuckyGuy many of those have been pushed by politicians as well as media…not just social media. For example, I give you Ferguson MO. The influence of the President and the media built that into a race riot. It started (and ended) as a thug that attacked a police officer and got shot. In between we had a push of killer cops, racism, an entire nation that hated blacks and every other division you could come up with. Go figure.
