Why does John Batchelor (the talk show host) say that he's "the great American"?

1)Is he right?
2)If he is not right about it being “the great American” has anyone corrected him, and if so, what is his argument?

I tried to have the T and the G (The Great American) lower case.

Do you mean anyone who says “I’m the great American” shouldn’t be taken seriously, why is it?
I believe we try to prevent heart attack because we take it serioulsy, right? Not to say as bad as a heart attack or something like that.
