Do you believe the Democrats won the 2020 election?

Asked by crazyguy (3207points) December 18th, 2020

A CNN article today claims that the future looks bright for the Republican Party:
https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/18/opinions/biden-won-republican-astonishing-victories-bond/index.html

According to the article, even though Biden beat Trump, overall, it was anything but a Democratic win.

What do you think?

I think it’s sour grapes. They can’t handle losing.

crazyguy's avatar

@Nomore_lockout Would you be referring to CNN?

Nomore_lockout's avatar

No I’d be referring to the Republican Party. Taking Heads on TV don’t impress me. They’ll say anything on a slow news day.

Darth_Algar's avatar

Yes, the Democratic Party won the election. Jesus, this is childish bullshit.

JLoon's avatar

I believe Trump lost and Biden won.

But what that really means for either party – and for the rest of us – still isn’t clear.

_____'s avatar

Yes. And this means that the Republicans also won.

smudges's avatar

Ummm…. Y E S!! This is getting really old.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Wait until Georgia goes Democrat for both Senators !

raum's avatar

Well…Democrats won the election.

But considering that half the country thinks Trump won, that the whole world is in cahoots with the covid hoax, and there are tracers in the vaccine. We all lose.

Nomore_lockout's avatar

And don’t forget that the earth is flat, gravity is a hoax, and outer space isn’t real. Look on the bright side, at least you don’t have to worry about aliens any more. Every conspiracy has a silver lining, as my old pappy used to say

AYKM's avatar

IMO it was a win for both if the republicans keep the senate. The right get to wash their hands of Trump and the left get four years.

crazyguy's avatar

@Nomore_lockout The question is about the CNN article, not the Republicans:

According to the article, even though Biden beat Trump, overall, it was anything but a Democratic win.

What do you think?

See?

rockfan's avatar

Even if Trump was granted all the votes he thought were stolen from him, he still would have lost the election. This is what the Trump cultists don’t understand.

crazyguy's avatar

@JLoon Thanks for a thoughtful answer. In a sea of political bullshit.

@smudges What is “getting old”? This was a CNN article!

@raum I do not read CNN.com much, so perhaps I am missing some nuance. But, to me, the writing is clear: Expect the Republicans to win big in 2022. After not losing in 2020.

@AYKM Considering the number of Republicans who won or held on, I would say they won. It is too bad that Trump lost.

@rockfan If you read the question properly before answering, you will see it is not about Trump.

rockfan's avatar

I don’t think the future for Republicans look bright at all. They’re going to be even more fractured than the democrats.

Because I think the future of the Republican Party is the party of Trump and a lot of establishment republicans realize that.

crazyguy's avatar

@rockfan So you disagree with the CNN article? Did you read it?

AYKM's avatar

I think the future looks very bright for the republicans. Trump was anything but unifying. Getting him out of the way is just what the right needs.
There could be movement taking house seats in two years, the presidency in 2024 and potentially keeping/retaking the senate as well.

crazyguy's avatar

@AYKM I’ll bet you that Trump will be back in 2024, and will score a resounding win. Primarily because Biden will screw things up so bad that even the most progressive Democrats will be yelling for Trump.

AYKM's avatar

I hope not, that would be like the left running Hillary again. It’s a guaranteed lose.

Darth_Algar's avatar

@crazyguy “I’ll bet you that Trump will be back in 2024, and will score a resounding win.”

By 2024 Trump will be a political non-entity and will be too enmeshed in personal problems to focus on anything else.

jca2's avatar

Maybe Trump will be behind bars is 2024. Can a convict run for President?

Tropical_Willie's avatar

@crazyguy Can a convicted felon run for President ?

Tax fraud and paternity/rape (DNA) warrants are waiting for him to be un-Presidented !

rockfan's avatar

The base of the Republican Party are Trump voters and establishment republicans have to cater to them. That’s what I meant.

mazingerz88's avatar

The Democrats are the real winners in 2020 simply because they got rid of trump playing President.

And it hurt trump so much obviously that he is getting more insane by the minute which makes the victory all the more sweet.

The more trump twittle and twattle about it the more his suffering is exposed. That’s justified punishment for ugly, dangerous and cruel bullies.

The rest is details. Life goes on.

If the trump party brings him back or another one like him then they’re just glutton for punishing defeats.

Majority of decent and thinking Americans will always abhor lipsticked pigs. If 100 million voted for a pig, 120 million will vote against it.

AYKM's avatar

Trump had supporters early for several valid reasons. Once he got in office we were stuck with him. Now he is gone. Don’t think the right will make that mistake again. They’ll run a conventional republican and they’ll win.

rockfan's avatar

@AYKM

Couldn’t disagree more. Biden is already giving us signs that he’s going to be just as neoliberal as Obama, which led to Trump’s rise as a populist candidate. The continuing failures of the democrats will most likely make way for another far right wing candidate who pretends to care about the working class.

Nomore_lockout's avatar

@jca2 Didn’t they make a movie about that? “The Tweety Bird Man of Alcatraz”?

crazyguy's avatar

@mazingerz88 I am certain that if Trump wants to run in 2024, he will be the shoo-in Republican nominee. Depending on how much Biden fucks up, Trump may also be the shoo-in winner of the election.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

^^^^ Felons can’t hold public office; can they ? ^^^^^

AYKM's avatar

Trump is done. He will not be back.

Darth_Algar's avatar

@Tropical_Willie

To my knowledge there’s no law or rule saying they can’t.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

@Darth_Algar depends on state but some the only way they can be elected is they are pardoned. Same thing with voting.

New York is waiting for him !

” New York looking into tax write-offs on millions of dollars in consulting fees, some of which appear to have gone to the president’s daughter and senior adviser Ivanka Trump, according to people familiar with the matter who spoke to The New York Times. ”

crazyguy's avatar

@AYKM If and when Trump leaves the White House, he will be back in four years. That I am certain of.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

@crazyguy

Trump will be in jail for tax fraud, in New York.

Ivanka maybe there too for the millions she got for “consulting ” while being a Trump employee.. Did she declare both incomes ? ?

Rudy Kazooty will get her off ! NOT

AYKM's avatar

He will neither be in jail or the oval office.

mazingerz88's avatar

More likely trump would be in a mental facility getting treatment in four years. Maybe earlier.

crazyguy's avatar

@mazingerz88 You have the freedom (for now) to believe what you want.

LostInParadise's avatar

I am just grateful that Biden will be undoing all the horrible things that Trump did.

mazingerz88's avatar

@crazyguy (For now) you have yours too.

crazyguy's avatar

@LostInParadise And leaving some messy situations for his successor.

alexisbnsn's avatar

All lawsuits filed by Trump have been tossed out because there is absolutely zero evidence that this election was tampered with. President Elect Biden won. Done.

crazyguy's avatar

@alexisbnsn The whole point, Johnny come lately, is that you cannot get the evidence without a court order! Chicken or the egg!

Tropical_Willie's avatar

@crazyguy Zero evidence . . , delusion factor one thousand and Trump is deluded.

_____'s avatar

Johnny-come-lately, you don’t understand. The way any legit system should work is that any and all absurd requests for court orders should be granted in order to perform a witch hunt search for evidence that any wrong doing has occurred.

For example, we will request a court order immediately to investigate @crazyguy‘s involvement in hacking Chase Bank and releasing customer info (including social security numbers) to Eastern European groups that are selling this info for credit and identity fraud. The evidence we have of this crime is that we don’t have evidence yet because the court order hasn’t allowed us to gather it.

crazyguy's avatar

@_____ Your analogy is as stupid as your comment. There were ample indications of fraudulent behavior introduced in court, however, none of them were ‘evidence’. Nobody is saying that a court order for an investigation should be issued without any smoke. However, in the 2020 election, there was plenty of smoke.

_____'s avatar

^ Try working that “smoke” into your “chicken vs egg” comments.

Also, the “smoke” was created by Trump/Repubicans in order to justify the search for fire.

JLoon's avatar

@crazyguy – So you’re a loyal Tump fan.

@ ___ – So you’re not.

And thats what this dumpster fire of a “debate” comes down to.

Jeebus please make them stop…

crazyguy's avatar

@JLoon Whether one is a loyal Trump fan or not, one should never accept a voting system that can be abused. Investigating details of the 2020 election would open our eyes to how such fraud can take place.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

^^^^Sources pleeze @crazyguy ! ^^^^^

I hope you bring up Trump’s BFF Putin !

mazingerz88's avatar

Trump and his believers are the only ones abusing the US voting system. Get a life Trump supporters, get…a…life.

JLoon's avatar

@crazyguy – I’m not wading any deeper into this quicksand.

It’s one thing to argue for caution and care in protecting the right to vote lawfully, but something else to ignore facts and reason when looking at the result. Only in politics can paranoia pass for sanity.
