If you put ant traps in areas that your kids can’t get to, the ants will take the poison back to the hive and you don’t have to spray anything anywhere.

My sister won’t use chemicals and she uses the peel of a cucumber and for whatever reason – it keeps the ants away. Now, whether or not you want cucumber peels all over the place is another story. But it did work for her (she only had them in her kitchen.) I don’t know how often she put down new peels.

Figure out what kind of ants you have first, that will determine the best way of taking care of them. If you have “Sweet-Loving Ants” bait will be the easiest way to go, you can put it where you see the ants, yet still somewhere that your kids cant reach it, and like Judi said they’ll bring it back to the colony and whip the whole thing out for you.

I had ants in my room about a month ago, it took less than a week before they were all gone.

just go around and step the ants like nobody business – children have a lot of free time anyway

Squish, squish, squish… Repeat as neccesary.

Have you tried Diatomaceous Earth?

I’ve used peppermint oil on cotton balls and they go away. Not sure where they go, but who cares? Only works on those little tiny ants.

I second the peppermint oil. Worked for us.

I have also used olive oil. You can spread a thin layer around wherever they are originating and/or walking. Worked for me in my kitchen.
