Any else suffering from "post-election, anxiety that he might not win, overwhelmed that he did, depression syndrome"?

Asked by skfinkel (13537points) November 7th, 2008

Lots of other things have been happening in my life, but I am wondering how much I can tie to the election of Obama—which has been the main thing on my mind for many months.

I’ve noticed that some people seem pretty overwhelmed. As for me—we knew he was going to win for the past several weeks, if not months. I don’t understand why people are so surprised.

I knew he was going to win for the past several weeks if not months and still have trouble breathing easy. It’s like we did, we got this amazing man into office, but now he has to actually be amazing. And I’m so happy we got him there, but there is this huge task waiting for him and I’m not sure anyone is really up to it, but I have a lot of faith that if someone is, he is.

I was burned too many times. Gore, Kerry, just couldn’t be sure until it really happened. But I hope Obama told his Grandma before she died that they had made it happen!

Not yet, I’m still high on his election. I did not consider it a foregone conclusion at any point. I feel like I have to ween myself away from the news and the internet and start doing other things again (Fluther excepted)!

I, too, hope Obama’s grandmother had confidence that he was going to win. How sad that she and his mother were not alive to see it.

I was thinking today of watching The West Wing for years and wanting Jed Bartlett to be our real President. Now, I think, maybe we’ve got him.

Maybe, but it’s hard to distinguish from my “8 years of Bush” depression

Yes! I am kind of anxious about what’s going to happen NOW. So many people put soo much of their energy into getting peopled hyped about Obama but now that’s he won…WHAT NOW?! I wish people would always have something to get pumped up about…like making sure a new social movement starts in this country!

I am still overjoyed at Obama’s win, but growing increasingly anxious about the economy. My husband retires soon and his pension is tanking.

Here’s a great article that does help explain this feeling.

Yesssssssss. I just noticed it today. Now I need to pour my thoughts and energies into something else. I think my new cause might be trying to overturn Proposotion 8. Maybe working on getting alternative energies, too.

I’ve been in a real strange funk. Dunno if it is the election being over or not.
