Do you keep your 'activity for you' clean?

Asked by Foolaholic (5804points) March 10th, 2009

I just cleaned out six and a half pages of old questions out of my ‘activity for you’ section. Do you keep that organized, or do you not really care about old questions?

I try. It piles up if I am away from Fluther for a few days.

Yes- If I do not ditch stuff it gets overwhelming.

casheroo's avatar

I’m still new, but I have not stopped following anything yet. I just have to click on the activity for me, to make that number go away.

tinyfaery's avatar

Daily. I hate seeing all that clutter in the side bar.

jlm11f's avatar

I try to on most days. But this week is a busy one for me, and my Fluthering activity is very selective at the moment. So I have “22 new” showing. Will probably get to them next week.

jbfletcherfan's avatar

@tinyfaery I’m with you. I can’t stand it either. I do the same with my emails. Every night before I shut this down, I clear all files out. Every day, I start over all fresh.

No. It’s not as bad as @johnpowell‘s but it’s getting there. Luckily no one ever sends me comments so I don’t have to worry about that.

I wish there was a way to clear the Activity for You all at once without clicking on each one individually, but keep following the questions from then on.

cookieman's avatar

@jbfletcherfan: Same here. eMails too as you describe.

I’m kind of compulsive.

jbfletcherfan's avatar

@cprevite Yes, that’s just my personality, too. I have to have everything just so. Everything has a place & everything must BE in its place!

cookieman's avatar

@jbfletcherfan: Psst. Do your labels face forward? Desk organized? Is the Brother label maker your friend?

jbfletcherfan's avatar

@cprevite yes, all labels do face forward. In the spice rack & on the shelves. I use the label maker on some things. And yes, my desk IS organized. We’d keep a neat house together, LOL.

cookieman's avatar

@jbfletcherfan: It would be immaculate. I had a time off from work last week, and spent a day…steaming my hardwood floors with my Bissel. My wife thinks I’m insane. ;^-)

aprilsimnel's avatar

It’s cleaned out daily.

jbfletcherfan's avatar

@cprevite LOLLLLLL, steaming a hardwood floor, huh? Well, I guess it depends on where it is. Is it an entryway?

I do believe I have a form of OCD. I can’t stand to have mails unread, unanaswered, or items in my activity column over there.

patg7590's avatar

absolutely. As if my life depended on it

cookieman's avatar

@jbfletcherfan: Nope, whole house. With the exception of 2–3 small area rugs, it’s wood everywhere (stairs too). Sooo easy to clean.

And I’m with ya on the OCD.

Bluefreedom's avatar

Yes. I’ve cleaned out some of my Activity For You material on several occasions. It just seems like good housekeeping or something similar to that.

jbfletcherfan's avatar

@cprevite Well, if the whole house is hardwood, then yes, that’s the way to clean it. I bet they’re pretty. My utility room is hardwood & I use orange oil on it, It’s beautiful.

Sakata's avatar

I look at mine like an inbox. Don’t want to just dump out the “new mail” without checking it first. A lot of the time I just check the new Activity and Questions then log off. Been slackin’ lately on posting both Q’s & A’s.

cdwccrn's avatar

I keep my stuff very clean, thank you very much.

Snoopy's avatar

Unfortunately, I didn’t keep up w/ this originally….not realizing that I would have to dump one question at a time to clear things out…..

UGH!

Please, o, please Fluther powers that be, allow massive house cleaning….?

and yes, I have sent this as a suggestion via the contact button, before it is suggested :)

arnbev959's avatar

I spent the last two hours scrubbing, dusting, and mopping.

@petethepothead You’re such a trooper lol

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

yes, dumping one question at a time is soooooooo monotonous. The ones with ‘remove/stop following’ are easy enough, but the ones with just ‘stop following’ have really piled up. And if you try to go to page eleven to work backwards, it keeps bringing you back to page one.

Someone in charge of this place needs to get on the stick and fix that!

tiffyandthewall's avatar

i’m so bad at checking them. i usually try to clean out my Questions for You, but i rarely get to my Activities for You. i am a slacker in every sense of the word.

jlm11f's avatar

@petethepothead – Did you seriously get rid of your 630 new activity? Did you delete them all or actually look at each thread? Is impressed.

arnbev959's avatar

I looked through the interesting ones, and just opened the rest, then closed Firefox. (I’ve never had that many tabs open at once.) I’m still following all of them.

It was definitely worth it. It’s so clean. I can actually make use of my “Activity for You.”

augustlan's avatar

I end every day with zero new activity and most days with zero questions for me. I have a harder time with the “questions for you” part since I’ve become a mod. As a mod, I look at all new questions, and don’t always get a chance to clean up my own virtual house.

TitsMcGhee's avatar

I try to keep it as clean as possible, but a few days ago, I finally “removed all” of my 2000+ questions that I hadn’t gotten to.

jbfletcherfan's avatar

@TitsMcGhee WOW! I bet your ‘clicker finger’ was worn out after that!

TitsMcGhee's avatar

@jbfletcherfan: Not at all. Thats what the fabulous “Remove All” button is for :D

I like to clean it up when I’m logged in here.
