How can I open a .wps file?

Asked by bob (3223points) March 22nd, 2009

Apparently, lots of people still use Microsoft Works, and these people have sent files to me in .wps format. How can I open these files on a Mac (or convert them to another format)? Bonus: I don’t have M/S Office or Word installed, either.

Maclink from Dataviz (I think) handled .wps.

A user on mac rumours thinks he opened one using AppleWorks.

First thing I would try is OpenOffice, which has a pretty solid (and free) OS X native version now.

I don’t think OpenOffice does .wps files according to this

For future reference: there aren’t any easy (or easily discoverable) standalone converters; OpenOffice and Pages.app both apparently fail.

Solution of least resistance: zamzar.com will convert the files pretty painlessly and send a download link via email in about 15 minutes.
