Would you like to have a brain transplant?

Asked by Cotton101 (3439points) December 13th, 2009

If it were possible and you could get a brain transplant, what kind of brain would you want: 1) a strong capacity to be very moral and good 2) a very creative brain ) a business minded brain that allows you to make lots of $$$ 4) a brain that makes other people laugh

I’d want a very well rounded brain that offered me the best possible combination of all of those options. I wouldn’t want too strong of a focus in any one of those as I’d be missing out on the rest. I’d prefer average over superb but lopsided.

Can I have one of each please? Bet I would have one big-a$$ head!

I already have a brain that fulfills 3 out of 4 of those criteria. I think I’m good.

No, I like mine just the way it is..I’ve infested to much time convincing it of that to trade it in now.

I wouldn’t want a brain transplant, I wouldn’t be MYSELF anymore. I’d just be the new brain in this body. Where would this brain go? That would be the one that would be me still. I’d rather keep this body, thanks. I’m attached to it (har har).

Your mind, your personality, your feelings; all reside in your brain. If you get a brain transplant, it won’t be you in your body anymore; it will be whoever donated their brain for the transplant.

What you’re talking about could be more accurately described as the transfer of your consciousness into a new brain (and perhaps the body that comes with it). But, just because your mind has been transferred into a business-oriented, humorous brain (a likely combination), does not mean that your mind will know how to access and use those parts of your new brain-home.

It’s actually quite a nebulous subject and we don’t know if these things will ever be possible.

DrDoom, as you know, the question was a “tongue in cheek” type questions. But, thank you for your answer!

Can I just upgrade and get more memory for my brain? The brain itself is fine.
