To get something good quality, you would probably have to go specifically to a hat maker or a vintage shop/thrift store. However, I have seen some decent looking ones at places like TJMaxx, Marshalls, or on the higher end, Nordstroms.

I personally would go to a milliner first.There is nothing like the feel of a hat made specifically for you.My grandpa taught me all about it and he looked great in his hats:)

The problem with hats is heads. You need to try them on; one-size-fits-all is rubbish except for a beret. If not careful, you may end up looking like a cone head.

I saw an exhibit of Frank Olive hats in an art gallery several years ago. If you search that brand on eBay, you find some amazing hats, for a reasonable price. You do have the problem of sizing when you buy online as @gailcalled said.
