VLC is a popular general media player, in particular for video, although it supports audio and some image formats. It supports an extremely wide range of file formats including MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, Quicktime video, AVI video, and many more. It is available free of charge for almost every major operating system, including Windows, Mac OS X and every Linux distribution.
