What nickname should be given to someone named Isabelle?

Asked by IzzyAndHerBeans (359points) April 1st, 2012

My name is Isabelle, but I’m looking for a new nick name. People call me Izzy, for the most part. It’s getting a little old. Any ideas?

Belle or Bella.

What @chyna said. Can’t go wrong with “Bella” as it means “beautiful”.

Isabelle is already a beautiful name, why use a nick-name? Just use Isabelle.

I’d pick Izzy. or spell it Izzi.

I love Bella. It was a character in a vampire novel as well. I can’t remember which one though.

Iz. When you have a daughter, you can call her Iz 2. When you have another daughter, and name her something else, you can call her Iz Not.

The last part of my name is belle as well. I’d go with Belle as others have suggested. Most of my nicknames are based on the first part of my name. I finally dropped all my nicknames and asked everyone to use my full given name: Annabelle.

Since Bella has been played out in the wonderfully creative teen novels-turned block buster gold (Twilight)-I suggest something more unique but ofcourse it’s not too different from Bella-But it wouldn’t be compared to the one who fell inlove with a sparkling vamipire.

Try Ella, Sable, Able, or even get creative with your first and middle name or even a last name if it’s catchy enough. Such as my last name Trudel—- in hs I had a friend who called me Tru.

I like Izzy. I was going to suggest it before I saw your details, because of this wonderful movie. Bella has been completely ruined by Twilight.

We call my granddaughter Isabel “Boo”.

In its origins, Isabelle is the same name as Elizabeth. And I don’t think there’s any name in the English-speaking culture that has more nicknames than Elizabeth. I think you should help yourself to them if you like.

If my name were Isabel, I think I might suggest Libby.

I lile ‘Bell’

For the name Isabelle I’ve heard Izzy, Isa, Belle, Bella, Lib, Libby, Liz, Sab and Sabby.

Zz-zz-zz-zzabby!

or go with something completely unrelated. For some silly reason, I’m referred to as Captain in certain circles.

Bella – but then everyone will assume that you’re a Twilight fan.
