What do you put on your Ramen?

Asked by lefteh (9429points) June 26th, 2008

It seems like everybody eats it differently. Personally, I eat mine with mozzarella cheese and pesto.

I put pesto on mine, too. When I was little I added a cut up hotdog.

i used to fry it up in tamari and garlic but i havent done that in years. I learned it from an old roommate who happened to eat ALL of the special veggie ramen my mom had gotten me. so annoying!!

Most people seem repulsed by this.

I love putting parmesan cheese on mine. And I am talking about the shitty powder that is made by Kraft.

beast's avatar

I don’t. I simply hate the way ramen tastes.

@JP: That sounds pretty good, actually. I’m making some now, which is why I asked. I wanted to try something different. I have some shitty Kraft powder on hand, so I’ll have to try a bowl of that.

jrpowell's avatar

It melts on the bottom of the bowl. That is the best part.

There’s some great ramen recipes here

Thanks for the link. And John, this is delicious.

I make it in v8 and add a lit of cheese. Mmmmmmm.

lefteh's avatar

You make it in V8…?
I’m going to be honest, that sounds repulsive. You’ll have to make it for me sometime.

delirium's avatar

it sounds bad but is in fact uncannily good. Seriously. Nate HATES v8 but still steals my ramen of it every time. Its even better with the addition of a whirled egg drop.

egg drop, green onions, thinly sliced pork… AWESOME!

Tabasco sauce and Kikkoman soy sauce. I don’t measure, just glug ‘em both in till the mixture is a dark orange. Spicily Yumstilicious!
Oh, and I only eat the chicken flavor.

charliecompany34's avatar

the seasoning packet along with left-over chicken, kikkoman soy sauce and crushed red pepper flakes. lots of sodium but damn it’s good.

Seesul's avatar

I don’t eat it because the msg in it makes me ill, but Stocky’s link gives me way to try it by leaving out the flavor packet. Thanks. For those of you who don’t like V-8, try the newer lower sodium kind. It tastes totally different and more like fresh veggies. It’s hard to find, though, because it sells out so fast. My mom used to make a comfort dish that is similar to your idea, Delrium. She would make pasta, drain it, add a can of tomato sauce, grate a good cheddar over that, melt it all together and it was yummy. She said she came up with it trying to mimic the canned pastas that had sugar in them and were also too expensive. Add mushrooms and you’ve got it made in the shade.

lefteh's avatar

Yeah, I don’t use the packet ever. At all. I think they’re gross and full of sodium.

bearfair's avatar

Chopped spinach or chard, green onions, an egg, sesame oil.

babiturtle36's avatar

I only eat the beef flavor, and I drain the soup part and only eat the noodles.

@lefteh, “gross and full of sodium” describes the ocean; which I also love.

jrpowell's avatar

@lefteh
I can’t tell if that was sarcasm.

marinelife's avatar

The lid of the garbage can.

lefteh's avatar

No sarcasm there. I honestly never use it.

@ lefteh “flavor packets are gross and full of sodium”

I think the same way. I still use the packet, just ½ of it. I add scallions and shrimp, too. Occasionally, I’ll add some veggies. I personally like to keep the Japanese in it.
