Do you like your credit card company?

Asked by susanc (16139points) December 22nd, 2014

I’ve had it with Bank of America. I like their statements, and I like the way they fight off larcenous would-be thieves, but you can’t get through to them, so they waste hours and hours of my time if I have a question; so where should I go? I like airmiles. Thanks for your guidance, team.

American Express has always had very good service for me in terms of problems I might have with a charge. They can be a little frustrating tryng to get put of their annual rates. They have cards with no annual rates, but the ones I choose have annual rates. Right now I have a Delta Airlines card.

My other card right now is a Chase card, Marriott Chase Visa, and I have only had to call customer service twice a few years ago about a charge for help, and I was happy with their service. I also call them to get out of annual rates and they are ok. I think I was given a free night stay this year.

I pick my credit cards based on what benefit I can get overall. I don’t pay any attention to the interests rates, because I never pay interest. I look at the annual rates, and how I can earn free stuff. I often get out of part or all of the annual rate, because I do a lot of spending, and threaten to leave the card if they don’t do something to lower my cost.

American Express, I use their web page for questions or phone. I have called several times in the last five years; they usually answer on the second or third ring. I pay off balance each month. I have rewards points which cost each year.

I have an REI gold VISA card. It’s great. Cash back at the end of the year.

Thanks, everyone. Not sure what to do, but these are helpful avenues to try.

I have 2 credit cards and rarely use either one, I am not impressed with Bank of America but my Discover account has been very good to me, they have seemed interested in my being a customer.

CREDO has just come out with a credit card… http://credocreditcard.com/

CREDO donates their proceeds to charities, mostly social and environmental causes. I first heard of them as offering mobile phone service, but just the other day I got an email that they now have a credit card, and I’m planning to switch from CapitalOne – who have been horrendous to deal with since they bought out the HSBC card I’ve had for years.

I never got their mobile phone service because they didn’t have the iPhone for a long time, but now they do. Last I checked they used the Sprint network, which doesn’t have great coverage around here, though.

Sprint won’t do it for me either. Makes me crazy. Thanks for the heads up on CREDO though, @hearkat.
