Congratulations! You've just won one free meal a day for life at one nation-wide fast food restaurant of your choosing. What restaurant will it be?

Asked by ibstubro (18804points) June 14th, 2015

For example, you could choose the nation leader in the US and get a free breakfast, lunch, or dinner every day for life at McDonald’s.

For the sake of clarity, I’ll define “fast food” as a restaurant with a counter order-taker and no server.
(Technically that excludes Pizza Hut but includes Dominoes.)

Are they any Indian food national chains?

My local Döner Imbiss.

McD’s and I want breakfast!

Wendy’s of course.

McDonalds. They consistently serve strong unsweetened iced tea with fresh lemon and offer clean bathroom facilities and free wi-fi. Eating food every day from McDs? Not interested.

If I were rich and didn’t care about my health, it would be Starbucks.

longgone's avatar

Starbucks, if that counts. I would probably only go once a week at the most, but Mc Donald’s and Co do not particularly excite me.

ragingloli's avatar

Why starbucks?
I have been there once. Overpriced, and the espresso machine at my office makes better coffee than them.

Judi's avatar

The healthiest option is probably Chipotle, but if Cafe Yumm would count it would be the one! My mouth waters just thinking about Yumm Sauce!

Pied_Pfeffer's avatar

@ragingloli The coffee at Starbucks is a much better quality than where I worked. Their sandwiches and desserts are tasty. I’m just not willing to shell out the money for what they offer. If it were free, I would reconsider.

Cinnabon

Unfortunately, I gain weight just enjoying the aroma from their stores!

Taco Bell. It’s the only big fast food chain I like.

I would not go every day.

Is Panera considered fast food?

longgone's avatar

@ragingloli Starbucks because I like their desserts and their frozen drinks. Yes, they are overpriced – but since I’m getting a free meal, that’s all right.

hug_of_war's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe The panera here doesn’t have servers at least so it fits the OP’s criteria

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@hug_of_war Okay, I like Panera, I just have to travel to find one.

josie's avatar

I would give it to charity

flutherother's avatar

Thanks, but a week of that would be more than enough.

Popeye’s or Sonic.

Panda Express—their steamed veggies are fabulous.

I don’t remember the name but there is a mom and pop italian restaurant near me that has the most awesome fresh italian food with a little bit of spanish flavors in some of their food.
Oh, I just realized you said fast food.
I guess it would be Wendys. But I couldn’t stand to eat at any of those places for too long.
5 guys would be my number one but I would probably die from high cholesterol in a few months.

Subway for me.
I like the variety of fresh ingredients and breads and the fact that I can customize. Flatbread breakfast, veggie burger or a chopped salad I can take home and add to – Subway would be the hardest for me to get tired of, and the closest to healthy.
Plus, they’re everywhere!

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@zenzen I’ve not heard of that one.

Check it out.

Is that Italian cusine?

Kardamom's avatar

I’m going to go with Taco Bell or Del Taco, but I can guarantee that someone else will be getting a lot of free food, because I’ll have to give most of it away. I like those two places, but I can’t eat the same thing every day, and being a vegetarian, pretty much limits me to one of two (or zero at most fast food restaurants) menu items. I don’t even want to eat stuff that I really like, like Indian food or pizza, every single day.

ibstubro's avatar

I know you’re not big on Subway, @Kardamom, but the beauty of that choice is free fresh ingredients, daily. Go in, ask for a salad, and just have them put in the bowl the fresh veggies you need for that night’s meal. Already have the ingredients? Have them make you a nice salad – enough to feed 2–4 as a side.

I want Subway because I want a supply of free fresh veggies!

bossob's avatar

@ibstubro You’re giving Jarad some competition! ;)

Kardamom's avatar

@ibstubro I find their food, the quality and the quantity, to be lacking. Their bread tastes like chemicals. It’s soft like Wonder bread, no thick crusty French rolls or real rye bread.

We have lots of regular Mom and Pop delis in our area that make way better sandwiches, even the liquor store delis make better sandwiches. And it really irks me that Subway makes you pay extra for avocado, which should be included on a veggie sandwich, especially considering that I am not getting any of the meat. They’re super skimpy on everything they put on their sandwiches, except for cucumbers. They’ll give you all the cucumbers you want. Problem is, I’d never put cucumbers on a sandwich. If you ask for a normal amount of cheese, they make you pay extra. Most of our grocery stores make sandwiches and they’re so much better than anything you can get at Subway.

For awhile Subway had these things called Flatizzas, their version of flatbread pizzas. Ugggh! They even messed up pizza! How can you mess up pizza?

ibstubro's avatar

But, @Kardamom, if it was free, how could you do better with a supply of fresh veggies?

Blondesjon's avatar

fresh from a bag

Kardamom's avatar

@ibstubro If it was free and I had to choose Subway, I’d likely give it all away, otherwise I’d choose Taco Bell. Iceberg lettuce, green peppers, mealy pink tomatoes and cucumbers are not what I’d ever put on a sandwich or in my salad. Those are cheap ingredients for them to stock, but they taste awful and are not nutrient dense.

ibstubro's avatar

Yup, the exact same thing as is available at the local groceries here, @Kardamom.
And Taco Bell (as I ate there yesterday).
I’m more rural than you and have less options for fresh produce in the off season, regardless the price.
