Why does this happen on dating sites? (details inside )

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24460points) November 14th, 2016

Someone winks at me and then quits her account before I get a chance to talk to her. Match and Plenty of Fish and other dating sites?

I think they are bots trying to draw people in.

It’s probably what @chyna said. The wink is probably not from a real human, if the account is being deleted quickly.

I’m glad to know you’re on a dating site.

They may be spamming large numbers of people at the same time. There are a lot of fake accounts on dating sites; people looking for money or whatever.

Don’t worry..there are real people too on these sites. One day you’ll get girl you’re looking for if you keep trying!!

@imrainmaker I don’t mean to be rude, but don’t give people false hope. There is not a person for everyone out there. I’m 58 and have not met my person.

^^ It’s not false hope. It’s quite possible right? If it didn’t happen for you / me then why we should assume that it won’t happen for rdguy also?

^^Is there something possibly to be ignited between these two??

@chyna :: Is probably right. Dating sites are pretty notorious for making fake female accounts so you think you have a chance and pay up.
