How many clothing items do you own that don't fit you anymore?

Asked by JLeslie (65418points) December 7th, 2016 from iPhone

I think I must have over 40! That’s ridiculous. Even if I got down to the weight I’ve been for years, I’m a little heavier now, there is still probably at least 20 items I’ll likely never fit in again.

Not many. I lost weight early this year and my pants were bagging on my butt. So I pitched them all and got new pants. I always go through my clothes every season and donate all of the clothes I haven’t worn in the last 2 years.

I have stuff in containers in the basement. Not sure how many items, not sure how many containers.

None. I have been the same weight for 30 years.

At least over fifty.

Not much, I’d have to go through and actively try things on, but I think most of my clothes still fit… at least sort of. I have gained 20lbs in the last 3 years, and while my clothes all still fit (I swear 15 of the 20lbs went to my face) I don’t wear a lot of them because I prefer my clothes to be a little more relaxed, especially when i’m not feeling confident in the first place. I don’t like to hold onto clothes in case they “might fit” again for very long. I figure if they don’t fit again within the year, they’ll be out of style anyhow and if my weight shifts downward, I’ll just buy new stuff. It feels more realistic for me.

Most of them. I’ve gained some weight in the last couple of years and I don’t buy clothes often. I’d rather lose the weight than go shopping.

After recently losing 50+ pounds…almost everything is too big. I have seven pairs of really nice Italian wool slacks I wear to work. They’re enormous on me know and I look ridiculous in them — but I refuse to buy new ones until I’ve lost all my weight as they are kind of pricey.

A lot! I have recently shed 20+ lbs and can finally fit back into the jeans I once wore 20 years ago. Now I have the dilemma of what to do with all this denim that no longer fits me…

Fit, or look good? I have a lot of stuff that is way too big as I lost quite a bit of weight over the past year. Since I hate slim-fitting clothes to begin with, some things look kind of ridiculous now. But they feel so nice and wrappy. My late mother would be furious. She always bugged me about my baggy pants/sweaters/everything. If I notice they look big, they’re truly in ridiculously large land. So – probably at least 100 super-oversized items waiting to be worn.

I have & am in the process of downsizing my entire wardrobe. Over the last year and a half I have dropped 39lbs & now weigh in at 11st 7lbs (old school)
I achieved this through running everyday & working out, I don’t drink, only at xmas & gave up smoking 15yrs ago. I was never big, but wanted to get back into the athletic shape I was as a late teen…mission accomplished, complete with a decent six pack.

None. I threw it away recently.
Good riddance.

My weight fluctuates between two sizes of jeans so I have like 10 pairs of jeans/shorts that are either too big or too small at any given time.

marinelife's avatar

Way too many. In sizes that are too small to way too large.

MooCows's avatar

Yep…..got my “fat clothes” and my “skinny clothes”
and some that fit in between. Its the same 20 pounds
i loose and gain again and again.

flutherother's avatar

None as my weight has been constant for 50 years.

DominicY's avatar

Can’t think of any. I’ve been the same size for the past 7 years or so and I get new stuff more often than that, so I haven’t held on to anything from before that that wouldn’t fit.

A pair of size 8 jeans that I last wore in 2012….they’re hanging around, just waiting.
Other than that, nothing.
