Can you help me solve this medical issue?

Asked by mrostkow (8points) July 10th, 2017

I smashed my finger two weeks ago in a car door. It has been two weeks now and the nail does not appear like it will be falling off, however it is all black underneath. When will this resume it’s normal appearance?

I bruised a big toe. The discoloration is slowly growing out and the newer area behind the bruise is a healthy color.

I do not know for sure, but I’m guessing your finger will be the same. It will have to slowly grow out until it’s all new again.

I did this just three weeks ago. Smashed it between two logs. I used a small sterile hobby knife and drilled slowly through the nail to let the blood out. It was not completely falling off so I simply cut the free nail away leaving the tiny bit left still connected to the nail bed. It will take 8 weeks or more to grow back.

It will take a long time but I don’t think it needs medical attention. If you are concerned though, go to a doctor.

You bruised beneath the nail.
Figure 9 months to look normal.

I have smashed my finger in a car door (hurts am i right?) Anyways mine bruised and whatever with a black discoloration and since it was a bruise, guess what? It healed. Now since the skin under your nail is very sensitive and fragile it takes longer than a regular bruise to heal. If you happen to be concerned, contact a doctor at your will. Hope it gets better though.
