What is Haytham Kenway's official job?

Asked by yaujj48 (1176points) August 5th, 2022

For context, Haytham Kenyway is a character in the Colonial era of Assassin’s Creed and a Templar. While I know his true job is a Grand Master of the Colonial Templars, I want to know what is Kenway’s official job. Is it a merchant or military officer? I like to know.

I’m playing Assassin’s Creed 3 and I don’t remember the game mentioning Haytham’s job. But then again his son Conor doesn’t seem to have a real job either. I figure he just spend most of his time lurking in the dark while earning his money from the Templar. That would make sense since he isn’t supposed to be known and seen.

@Mimishu1995 I mean for Connor, I guess his ‘official’ job would be managing the Davenport Homestead. He would be like a colonial landowner. Of course Connor can live on his own in the Frontier without a need of a job.

Although your answer may be accurate since his compatriots would be earning money and resources from trade, military, navy, criminal etc. He would just manage the operations in secret, no need to be in public.

@yaujj48 do you mean “official job” as in “a front to cover up his involvement with the Templar/Assassin from the public”? Or do you mean something else? If it’s the former then I don’t really consider Conor’s job as the landowner to be an “official” job. As I can see in the game, he needs resources/manpower to maintain the mansion, and he took the Homestead citizens in out of kindness, and those citizens were all random encounters. He doesn’t use that landowner job to hide his Assassin identity. He doesn’t even do anything to hide his identity other than just keep out of the radar.

I would guess Conor needs to do more work and be out in the open more because he is a newly appointed Assassin, while Haytham is already a grand master. He only needs to collect his minions’ money.
