What was the question?

TheOptimisticPessimist's avatar

The one I asked about gay rights.

Kelly27's avatar

Really? I have no idea why they would remove that. :|
I have yet to figure out their reasoning for removing questions

Sometimes they will send it back to you for modification or clarification. I have had that happen a few times, especially when I was new. Check you email and see if that’s what happened.

Good idea…Thankee’.

They’re deleting all my questions about shills. 3 down so far, not a single question about shills on the site. Not exactly building up my trust in the site.

A moderator probably pulled it back for editing. I had a question pulled a while back and a moderator sent me a PM within about 5 to 8 minutes to let me know to work on the question and make it more presentable within Fluther guidelines and re-submit it.

[Mod says] Optimistic pessimist’s question was removed as it wasn’t really a question, but a statement of opinion. You can reword it, and it may be replaced. You should have received an email, with the reason it was pulled. Have you verified your email address with us yet?

Halliburton Shill, check your private comments to address your situation.

I think I caught it the 2nd time you put it up. I guess I thought it was a question cuz I answered it!!! silly me.

All my questions about shills continue to be deleted:
http://www.fluther.com/disc/39284/whats-the-difference-between-an-unidentified-stock-holder-promoting-a-corporation/
http://www.fluther.com/disc/39265/what-web-sites-have-shills-been-discovered-on/

http://www.fluther.com/disc/38945/does-flurther-openly-identify-its-shills/

@augustlan – here’s a quote from a private message you sent me:
“the ‘What web sites use shills’ question would have been perfectly fine, if you hadn’t included the original removed question in the details section. A better way would have been to use the details section to define the term ‘shill’ (as many people have no idea what one is), and why you are wondering about them in the first place. If you’d like to ask that perfectly reasonable question, please do so.”

When I did precisely as the mod said, the question was still deleted.

@Halliburton_Shill Yes, and I was surprised to see that it was removed. There was a lack of communication on my part, and it was removed by another mod. I apologize for that. I think it was just assumed that you were asking the same question over and over…

Halliburton_Shill's avatar

@augustlan – that may or may not be. Maybe there’s just a “bad apple”. There seems to be an ongoing problem with my questions being deleted even when they meet guidelines better than many of the questions listed as great questions and have nothing to do with shills. 2 more examples (the second being the replacement for the first; neither notified me via email to modify or recommended modifications):

augustlan's avatar

[Mod says] @Halliburton_Shill Check your comments for information about that. If you have any other moderation questions send a comment to a moderator, please.

Halliburton_Shill's avatar

@augustlan – the problem with sending comments to a moderator is that there is clearly a moderator problem and I may be sending it to the moderator(s) who is the problem.

MacBean's avatar

@Halliburton_Shill Then send the same message to more than one mod so that if one of them is actually targeting you specifically, others will become aware of it. But I’d be willing to bet this really isn’t a moderator problem.

Moderators see all activity between members of the team. None of us are “flying solo”.

Halliburton_Shill's avatar

@MacBean – I’d be willing to bet it is. I just had another one removed “for editing” that had been up 3–4 days with many responses. Once again, it was the late evening moderator. Maybe somebody willing to be open and not solo would like to explain how it is this question does not meet quality standards .

Kelly27's avatar

@Halliburton_Shill What was the question? We can’t see it now that it has gone for editing.

Halliburton_Shill's avatar

@Kelly27, I linked to the question. If for some reason the link doesn’t show it, hover over it to read what-is-the-going-exchange-rate-for-wisdm-points-to-lurve?

Halliburton_Shill's avatar

Yet another to add to the list:
http://www.fluther.com/disc/41021/who-needs-to-be-added-to-the-bracket-of-evil/

With the reason being they want it to be rephrased to get longer responses. It was up under 10 minutes before getting deleted. No exactly much time to consider whether it will produce longer responses (it had 3 answers).

Halliburton_Shill's avatar

And the joy continues. It’s OK to ask for examples of “exemplary” questions, but not of the worst questions:
http://www.fluther.com/disc/41030/what-are-the-worst-questions-on-fluther-that-should-have-been/ (deleted being the final word)

MacBean's avatar

@Halliburton_Shill Asking for examples of good questions is positive. Asking for examples of bad questions would do nothing but breed animosity and make more work for the mods.

If you really want some opinions about the worst questions on Fluther, I’d say most of the ones you’ve asked, as well as ones like this where you’ve made multiple bitchy comments about the mods doing their jobs well, should go in the delete pile. :)

richardhenry's avatar

@Halliburton_Shill You didn’t provide enough of a jump to start a discussion with your “Who else needs to be added to the Bracket of Evil?” question. When your ‘details’ section is less than a sentence long, how do you expect the answers to be any better?

Hope this helps. If you’d like to discuss a question before posting, feel free to send me a private comment and I’ll help you write better questions.
