What kind of infection? Yeast infection?

I’m gonna go out on a limb here, and guess it may be a yeast infection. If that’s what it is, pills may cure it eventually, but for relief, you probably want the cream. I used to have to run out to the store to grab some Monistat for my wife, she used to get these infections quite often. You might try that.

If it’s not a yeast infection, I’ll just shut up now.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

Go to the doctor again and tell them that. They may need to switch the pills.

What exactly do you have and what pills did the doctor give you?

Sarcasm's avatar

Different infections have different cures. If you say what infection you have (or symptoms of it) you may get better help.

lillycoyote's avatar

If you have an infection you need to go to a real doctor. If what the doctor gave you isn’t working then you need to go back until he or she gives you something that will cure the infection. I don’t need to know what it is, what the infection is, because I’m not a doctor. That’s what doctors do, among other things. They diagnose, treat and cure infections. We can’t really help you here.

Nike_girl16's avatar

I really don’t know what kind of infection I have. But when I pii it burns me slot

HTDC's avatar

When you pii?

Buttonstc's avatar

If it’s bacterial infection, you need a different (or stronger) antibiotic.

If it’s a yeast infection, there are various different things which can help.

The cures for these two different types are NOT interchangeable.

We can’t help you without more info.

If you have pain on urination you likely have a bladder infection- if left untreated it could infect your kidneys. GO TO THE DOCTOR

Nike_girl16's avatar

I’m taking antibitoc but goes away then it comes back

Nike_girl16's avatar

Yes when I pii

Dog's avatar

Go to the doctor. Do not mess with this.
Asking here will not help you sleep or relieve your pain.

Dog's avatar

By the way- how old are you? Are you old enough to see a doctor on your own or do you need a parent to take you?

Nike_girl16's avatar

I know but I have an appointment on Monday and they already tested my pii nd they re going to tell me why I hve hopefully.

escapedone7's avatar

Does it burn mainly when you urinate? DId your doctor give you Bactrim? Have you taken the full course of antibiotics? Did they do a urinalysis or external exam? Did they specifically say it was a urinary tract infection?
There are some tablets at the pharmacy called azo that you can use to alleviate your suffering until you get back to the doctor.

If this is another kind of infection altogether you might need another type of treatment. Do you have any funny discharge or odors? You need a doctor.

“pii” = pee

HTDC's avatar

She can spell infection but she can’t spell pee. Go figure.

Jude's avatar

@HTDC I’m assuming that English is not her first language. Back off and be nice.

nope's avatar

One thing to add to all the advice above to go back to the doctor…tell the truth about whatever you may have been doing that caused the infection…the more information your doctor has, the more likely it is that he or she can help you fix it.

Nike_girl16's avatar

Well I do have a wierd discharge.

Pandora's avatar

Is it burning on the outside or the inside as you pee.

escapedone7's avatar

Mention that to the doctor. Those are the kinds of things they need to know.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

You need to finish all the antibiotics the doctor gave you or it may come back. If you finish all of them and it still comes back, go back to the doctor.

In the meantime, try drinking cranberry juice for a little relief.

Nike_girl16's avatar

For your information who ever is making those comments I’m from brazil so I don’t really know English.

Nike_girl16's avatar

Yea it burns on the inside.

HTDC's avatar

“For your information who ever is making those comments I’m from brazil so I don’t really know English”

Yet that sentence was perfect…

Nike_girl16's avatar

I’ve tried cranberry too and monastat 7 and it dint go away.

@HTDC if you have no interest in helping, then move the fuck along.

@jjmah Yeah sure, just thought I’d vocalise the thought that maybe this question and user aren’t genuine. I could be completely wrong, but that’s okay.

Drink a lot of water till your urine is clear. Stay clear of every other drink except for what papayally mentioned. Only water and cranberry juice. If you tend to drink a lot of soft drinks you may be also passing stones. Do go back to the doctor being this is definetly an internal problem as well.
If you have a yeast infection and it comes and goes you may want to change your diet altogether. You also have to obstain from sex till you are completely cured of it. You can pass it on to your partner and he pass it back to you.
I had a friend who had this problem. After about the seventh time the doctor told her to do this and it finally stopped.
There are some over the counter stuff like vagisil that may help with the itching. If that doesn’t work than try cleaning yourself (on the surface) with some witch hazel. It will help with any swollen irratated rash. It may sting at first because the skin is raw but that will stop after a minute or so and the rash will be less inflamed.
But please do go talk to your doctor. You may need stronger antibotics.

Thanks pandora that was a really good advice.

escapedone7's avatar

Nike these kinds of problems are common in ladies. I’ve had several infections in my time. My questions were aimed at the fact the infection can be a urinary tract infection, a yeast infection, a bacterial infection of the vagina, or other things. I am fairly certain you have a urinary tract infection. The test your doctor did will help you know for sure. The pee in the cup test will tell him if you have a UTI.
But that doesn’t mean you might have other problems too. I know it is uncomfortable. I wonder if AZO is available in brazil. I know what you are feeling is painful.

Sometimes you have to let the doctor give you a good exam down there.

Believe it or not I took some strong course of antibiotics for a urinary infection and then THAT led to a yeast infection. Sometimes taking antibiotics to cure a bacterial infection can for some reason disturb your body’s natural balance and cause another problem altogether.

Keep your appointment, and describe to your doctor symptoms you are having. You may need to let him do a good exam on you down there just to make sure. I hope you get to feeling better. I know it sucks. I wish I could send you my AZO. It really helps.

Nike_girl16's avatar

Thanks for your advice. Thanks alot

Dog's avatar

Oh a side note- you can have both a urinary tract infection and a yeast infection.

This may not be the case for you but my doctor told me that studies are linking wearing thong underware with repeat yeast and bladder infections.

Here is just one of many articles you can find on line about it.

Pandora's avatar

@Niki, your welcome. One more thing. Be careful what you wash your underwear in. You may be allergic to scents, or dyes in your detergents or fabric softners. If you use any wipes they also can cause your rash to be worse. I found out I can’t use anything with aloe. Use dove soap. It’s not really a made of soap and doesn’t irratate the skin.
Over doucheing can also cause problems. Most doctors suggest you don’t.
Whether you use tampons or pads be aware that many have perfumes and things added to them. Find something that is not scented. Hope you feel better soon.

thriftymaid's avatar

Go to another doctor.

PandoraBoxx's avatar

@HTDC Pii rhymes with Wii I can see it.—

Drink cranberry juice and lots of water.
Get some AZO tablets to help with the symptoms. They will not cure you, but will relieve the discomfort. Your urine will be very dark when you take these. It’s over the counter.

HTDC's avatar

@PandoraBoxx Heh, that’s the fiirst thiing that came iinto my miind.

It would be easier for us to help you answer your question if you could give us more information. Has your doctor diagnosed you with anything? What treatments has s/he prescribed?

Based on what you’ve said so far, I’m guessing you have a chronic yeast infection. If so, these can be very hard to cure and extremely frustrating. You may need to treat the infection and the symptoms separately. To deal with the symptoms, you could try topical cortisone cream or diphenhydramine (but be careful, this will put you right to sleep).

To treat the infection, your doctor can prescribe you antibiotics like diflucan, but it sounds like you may have already tried that. You could try some home remedies like yogurt or making a pessary out of garlic.

Consider also anything that might be causing or aggravating the infection. Did it start after you started using a new soap or detergent, or having sexual contact with a new partner? Has your diet changed? Has the weather been unusually warm? Have you been exercising more?

If you can post back with more details, we can do our best to help you more. But as the above posts mentioned, your doctor is probably your best resource at this point. Good luck.

Buttonstc's avatar

@nikipedia

Not trying to be nitpicky, but in the interests of avoiding confusion.

Diflucan is an anti-fungal not an antibiotic.

But I don’t think it would be such a bad idea to find another doctor. If he’s just expecting you to go through 72+ hours with this much discomfort, that’s just not right.

nikipedia's avatar

@Buttonstc: You’re absolutely right; my mistake.

Silhouette's avatar

Along with your pills, drink mass quantities of water and some cranberry juice. You can also feed miss puss some plain yogurt. Go visit your doctor again and tell him the pills aren’t working. http://www.epigee.org/health/vaginal_infection.html
