How did you happen to land here?

This certainly must be a question that has been asked here before.

The great answerbag collapse. I surfed the forums and heard of Fluther being run by grammar natzi’s and joined.

The internet farted, I was blown here on a breeze of apathy.

The Great Wis.dm Migration. It was a rough start!

The founders are friends from college of my son.

I did not know that @janbb!

I googled dog names and it brought me here. I’ve been here since 2008.

March 10, 2010 surfing the web with a bad case of jet lag after a 13 hour flight home from Asia. I still have no idea how I landed here, just clicked and lo and behold, this is what materialized, here I still am 5 years later, shocking. I simply don’t make 5 year commitments of any kind. haha

I read an article about the site, was intrigued, and surfed over to check it out. Didn’t leave for years!

I read something about Fluther and joined. Got the standard newbie hazing at the time and quit using Fluther. Then our site kicked us out, and we both landed here, @stanleybmanly. Askville.

Good to see you, Auggie!

Hi Auggie, nice to see you. How goes the job?

I like a nice, clean, ad-free website. Everything else is just a bonus.

2007, I had a little baby in the house, 3 cats and fleas. I was googling fleas and learning all about the life cycle, etc., trying to learn about them and trying to figure out how to eradicate them. On or around the 3rd page of something flea related on Google, I came to Fluther. The rest is history.

Still can’t remember. I want to say it was something about looking up new piano pieces to play.

I was in need of some music and research materials and Y!A failed me. I googled “best Q&A site” and some site mentioned this place, and here I am.

I was a regular on a cooking site and they asked some of us if we wanted to answer some questions about food and cooking. I had no idea that Fluther was a bigger Q&A site, I thought I was just going over to another food site. I had never heard of anything like this before (wasn’t familiar with Answerbag or Wis.dm or any of those other sites). Turns out that I had at least a little bit of talent answering certain types of questions, other than food related questions. Of course, those are still my favorite.

In the meantime, I met some amazing people here on Fluther and knew I had to stick around.

In my own small way, participating on Fluther is one attempt for my need to pay it forward.

I was looking for an answer to a question about saponification of seal fat. Mistook this site for a place to get serious answers. Turned out it divided the group nicely by the responses I got and I soon worked out who here I’d get along with and who would be wasting my time.

The great AiROW migration of 2009.

I’m still trying to figure out how one came up with saponification and seal fat. You are a wild woman.

I too salute the venerable Augustlan. I can’t think of a more even tempered and tactful individual worthy of mod hood.

@Ibstubro We weren’t exactly kicked out. Askville shut down abruptly without notice. About a year prior to my arrival here, I was told about fluther by one of Askville’s great champions (Goldie). I quickly forgot the recommendation, but a few weeks after the demise of Askville, I was busy googling up something when I stumbled across a post from here by the great champion of THIS place (Seek Kolinahr). And here I must note that it just occurred to me that this place is rather extraordinary for the enormous level of quality participation by women.

I met my current hubby (@fireside) in 2009 and he was an active member here. I stopped in to snoop on his questions and answers and got sucked in. We were both here together for a short while, then he left to be more engaged in real-life and I stuck around (although I mostly linger in the shadows while I’m at work).

@Dutchess_III No, he’s called Microsoft Wireless mouse.
