Please expound what you find wrong with it. While it may have its faults,I don;t think it is wrong.

It exists because people in the fashion industry want to see how clothes will look on a human being, even if that is a stylized and unnaturally thin and tall outlier of a human.

You don’t understand why seeing attractive women with attractive breasts in lingerie might encourage people to purchase lingerie?

There is too much hype about VS compared to other brands.Other than that I don’t think anything is wrong with it.

From about the age of 13 to 17 my folks did not realize the catalog even came in the mail.
Better than most porn back in the early 90s.

Former model here. I could tell some stories…

However, I agree. Some elaboration would be helpful in understanding your point.

I can think of a lot of things. The women are too skinny, for one. But without details, I have no idea what you find wrong with the industry..

The modeling industry is not the cause of problems – it is the result of societal decisions about what looks good or bad, and the models are just the tools to reach the economic goal of selling to look good or bad.

Like the others, I don’t understand what your complaint is. Modeling is a profession just like ditch digging or being a bank teller.

Nothing wrong with the modeling industry. It is designed to show normal people what the wares they are selling look like on a human being with normal healthy features.

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

^^Normal my ass. The average dress size of the American woman is 14 to 16. The average dress size of a fashion model is between 2 and 4. With their sunken eyes, hollow cheeks, angular features including protruding hips and ribs they look more like Auschwitz victims than “normal” women. This is dictated by the industry, not the average woman. Give me a woman with gentle curves any day over a body of a supermodel with the body of a 12 year-old boy..

Measure Requirements of Modeling

Fashion Model Size

The Average Woman is Now a Size 16

I walked by a Victoria Secret not long ago. It did not look like little boys in the advertisements to me.

I read somewhere that clothes look best on a hanger, so models are chosen who most closely resemble hangers.

There is plenty wrong about the modelling industry! Especially the ridiculous unhealthy standards of what constitutes beauty is these days.
It is damaging the young girls ( and boys) health and esteem.
Better to have a fashion designer create clothes for “all Types” instead of paper thin models who are thrown away before their prime.
I have seen ten year olds made up to look 25 Yrs of age.
This is an abusive industry run by people who take advantage instead of being a leader of compassion and understanding and setting normal standards that fit every body type.
