Does rain reduce the incidence of COVID in the air?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33159points) April 7th, 2020

Obviously inside, it wouldn’t make a difference.

It’s pouring here. Would rain tend to wash down (to the ground) the Covid virus germs that might be lingering in the air from the person who walked in front of me?

It removes from the air but the dirtiest things you bring into your home are your shoes.

@elbanditoroso Good question! Logically it should.

@Tropical_Willie We have spray disinfectant, Cleansmart, and spray the bottom of our shoes. It was recommended. My husband is now copying some of my ocd moves, too, wiping down doorknobs and light switches almost nightly. I secretly really enjoy it. :)

If that is the case then wouldn’t thatching or mowing your lawn stir it right back up again?

@SQUEEKY2 how long does the virus stay active without a human host? I doubt that it would last 24 hours on the grass or a leaf of a tree.

@elbanditoroso check with a medical professional before you give your opinions ! You could days short !!!!

I have heard so many different versions of how long the damn thing lives on different surfaces a hard smooth surface I have heard 3 to 9 days, a soft surface like clothing 1 to 2 days same as cardboard.
But I am a truck drivers not a scientist. So all I can tell you is what I have heard nothing more.
