How to have the perfect setup?

Asked by Swervy (107points) April 4th, 2010

I am getting a ps3 120GB slim a 32” Full HD LCD tv, and a Home theatre system for HD sound and HD video for christmas. I have a ps3 optical cable, ps3 HDMI cable and a ps2 component cable. How do I hook it all up? Do I put the ps3 to HDMI cble to tv and the optical from ps3 to home theatre system and the ps2 to home theatre with component and the home theatre to tv with another HDMI cable. I want to play the ps3 games, dvds and blu-rays.

You might want to call the Geek Squad or equivalent for this.

Get HDMI from tv to ps3 and HDMI from PS3 to Surround sound.

There are in theory many different configurations that you could do. Pictures of the back of each device would be ideal, but not necessary.

I think you could HDMI from PS3 to the theater system which would take care of your audio, then from the back of the theater system either optical or HDMI to the tv for video, or you could do component for just video if you have the right cables. Do component if you can manage, HDMI sometimes gets funky for just video because it carries both audio and video.
