What's your favorite line from any song?

Asked by Adirondackwannabe (36713points) June 27th, 2010

That last question was a little heavy, so here’s one in a lighter mood. Do you have a favorite line from a song? One of mine is “She wouldn’t spit on me if I was on fire” Hinder.

Take my hand, knot your fingers through mine and we’ll walk from this dark room for the last time..
And
I want so much to open your eyes. ‘Cause I need you to look into mine.

Both lines from the song Open Your Eyes by Snow Patrol.

Very nice. I like Beck, I’ll have to check out Snow Patrol.

Tell me does she love you like the way I love you
Does she stimulate you attract and captivate you
Tell me does she miss you existing just to kiss you
Like the way I do
Tell me does she want you infatuate and haunt you
She knows just how to shock you electrify and rock you
Does she inject you seduce you and affect you
Like the way I do

Haunting, familiar, yet I can’t seem to place it, cannot find the candle of thought to light your name; lifetimes are catching up with me

“cannot find a candle of thought to light your name” is such beautiful imagery to me.

Again, one of those questions where it’s very hard to pick just one but this one’s in my top 10:

sometimes you’re the windshield
sometimes you’re the bug
sometimes it all comes together baby
sometimes you’re a fool in love
sometimes you’re the louisville slugger
sometimes you’re the ball
sometimes it all comes together baby
sometimes you’re going to lose it all

That’s actually the whole chorus, rather than just one line; the first line is one of my favorites It’s from The Bug by Mark Knopfler

One of my all time favourite lyrics is “the angels had guitars even before they had wings” from Rock n Roll Dreams Come Through by Meat Loaf. In fact, the whole song is full of lyrics that I love.

@chyna I didn’t get it. Why do you look at that for me?

chyna's avatar

@Otto_King Sorry, I was joking. That song was considered a thinly veiled pickup little girls song, at least where I live.

What new mystery is this? In overflowing emptiness
the invisible is seen among the shadows and the mist.
Before my doubting eyes the infinite appears in time -
the unquestionable is questioned but makes no reply!

When the choir stood up to sing,
She was playing with my ding-a-ling.”

I forgot about this one. I’m not even much of a Billy Joel fan but I love this line:

I may be crazy.
But it just may be a lunatic you’re looking for.
