Help with TxTag, how much it costs a month?

There’s no cost each month, there’s only a cost when you use it and they reduce the rates slightly for those with tags.

And you can pre-load the thing with money, although does anyone here know why you would do that? It’s my understanding that if you don’t have cash in the account, but have a TxTag, you’ll just end up being invoiced.

Speaking of this, can you use TxTag with other toll roads within Texas?

I believe the three major Texas tolltag providers all work together, so you can use your tag in Austin, Dallas, and Houston regardless of who actually provided it. I actually have the tag I got in Dallas and just never switched it over to the Austin variety.

Because I have the NTTA tag it may be a little different, but basically you preload $40 on it and then whenever the balance is less than $10 they go ahead and reload it. When I was driving 45 everyday it was lot more convenient than getting a bill.

Dallas didn’t have an invoicing option on most of their roads, so I’m not sure how they would handle it if you used your Austin tag without a balance in the tolltag lanes…
